They have taken my zip out!

by Wee Dash, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 11:40 (43 days ago)

Hi everyone - Wee Dash here.

Well, last night was a bit scary. My Mum said we had to go for a ride in the car and every time I go for a ride in the car, I go to this place called horrorspital and now I know why they call it that. I was all shaky and trembly and my Mum said poor Wee Dash and I looked at her to say I want to go home, but she was not listening - I tried every ounce of ESP I could muster, but she just looked the other way. First my Mum stood me on the scales and she said that I was 29.4kgs so I only have another 2kilos to get back to my fighting weight. Then because I was a bundle of nerves, my Mum took me for a walk round and round and round the building, but as soon as I came in to the horrospital again, I started shaking all over. My Mum told the vet man that she thinks I should be knocked out but he said no, we will just lie Wee Dash on the floor on a rug and it will not be a problem to remove his stitches. They tried to make me sit, but my Mum had to explain that greyhounds don't sit - well not often. It was a big problem and I wouldn't lay down and I wouldn't let the vet man take my zip out and I was getting in a right old panic. So then the vet man said it was a bit extreme to knock me out just to take my zip out, but it was probably the right thing to do and then they stuck a nasty needle in my leg. Well, there I was all cosy on the floor and I didn't feel a thing when the zip came out and then they tried to make me get up, but I was just too sleepy, so everyone got a corner of the rug and they carried me out to the car and when I got home, I was still too sleepy to get out of the car so my Dad just sat with me until I was ready.

I was very hungry a bit later on - my Mum knew I had to be knocked out, so had taken the precaution of not feeding me. I got all sorts of tasty titbits - chicken, corned beef and ham and my Dad said what have I got for tea and my Mum said fish fingers, cos Wee Dash has eaten your chicken - ha! ha! - that's funny.

I didn't get my Mum out of bed in the middle of the night as usual for a P, because I was just still too sleepy, so my Mum and Dad got a whole nights sleep and they both said thank you Wee Dash. I like to be helpful every now and again you know. This morning, I went for a walk still on a lead and when I came back, I had breakfast and now I am off to have a snooze, just as soon as my Mum shakes my duvets and makes me all comfy and then she can get on with the housework and then get my lunch ready. It's a hard life being a cosseted greyhound, but hey, someone has to do it!

Best Wishes
Wee Dash

You can sit ya know! And its everso comfy - I does it loads. Sit on the stairs - bum on one step and front paws on the next step down. Sometimes I sit all askew wiv both backlegs to one side and front paws on the lower step - thats even better.;-)

Now you get back to your duvet and have a nice rest and make sure yer dad don't get his tea tonight either!

Hello Poppy,

You are everso funny and yes it is lovely without a zip. I tried sitting on the lino but cos my Mum polishes it, my front legs part from my back legs so I have to lay down. I've tried sitting on the carpet but I can't keep my balance and fall over, so I am not as clever as you Poppy. And I don't go near the stairs because they are very scary too. I went up some stairs once and then couldn't get down and I cried and cried 'til my Mum helped me down especially when I tried to jump all of them at once, she nearly had a heart attack. I will have to get some more advice from you on stair sitting cos it sounds good.
That's a wonderful idea about my Dads dinner - I will have to see what he has got tonight and maybe, if I put on my sad face, he will share it.

Everso glad you are feeling better Poppy.

Luv from

'llo Wee Dash

I's has been following you's trials and tribulations with my's paws crossed and I's is ever so pleased that you's has made such a good recovery and has got you's zip out. Them zips is nasty things and you's has to be careful.

I know's that you don't like the V E T but they is there to help. My V E T gives me treats when I's goes and there is usually a pussy cat to terrorise when I's is waiting, tho Mum gets angry wiv me if I's does this. Mind you I's has only had mini zips put in so I's has been lucky, paws crossed.

Hope you's continues to improve

Luv and slurps

Thank you Rascal for your kind words - and yes, it is not much fun having zips is it. I am sorry to learn that you too have had zips.

Last week we had vistas that my mum hadn't seen for years - how do you know that these vistas that I have never seen before are not burglas, especially when my mum said check their pockets before they go in case they've lifted the silver! One vista sat at one end of the sofa and my mum sat at the other end, but don't they know it is my sofa. I pushed my head in between them, then first one paw then the other three and hey I was up and I sat behind the vista and wriggled and wriggled until she got up and my mum had to get another chair. My mum said, well that's a good sign Wee Dash is back to his old self and then she admitted to the vista it was my sofa and no-one else was lowd to sit on it unless I'm given lots of strokes and cuddles and the vista was very kind and stroked me loads and loads, but I didn't let her back on 'cos I took up all the room on the sofa and I was nice and comfy. It is a hard life being regal and a poorly patient, but someone has to volunteer.

Speak to you soon Rascal.

Great to hear yous back up well enough to putting the vistas in theys place, Dash. Sounds like you are much much better, we wos all worried when we heard you wos so ill, cos we remembers when you wos just a wee orphan puppy who'd been abandoned on the steps of the hospital, and your mum took on the huge job of looking after you wiv your megasofagus. There should be a film of yous life. Did yous mum ever find out what made you so poorly? Yous lucky to have a sofa to yourself, we's just got to share three but when we stretch out, that's just a whole sofa each so theres not enough for all of us. And one has a big deep hole in it from when our mad Little Star wos here, mum stuffs it wiv cushions but we rake them out again. Theres no room for more sofas cos Romy likes to hide in her big crate wiv the sheet over it. Mum hope Santa will bring us new sofas wivout nooks and crannies where we can hide our nibbles and crumbs. Keep that chin up, Dash, you needs to vet yous mums vistas for many years to come.

My Mum says I am spoiled rotten and that is why I have a sofa all to myself and it has rips in the arms where I keep jumping up and digging my claws in, but my Mum says that it is Ok because it is my sofa. My Mum covers the rips up with a nice white cover but I soon get it all dirty - in fact it only takes me about a day to do that and it gives my Mum somefink to do washing and ironing it. My Dad says she is a glutton for punishment and why doesn't she buy a mud coloured one?! I fink sofas are best if they have lots of hidey holes and rips in them.

My Mum does have a photo of me and if someone can tell her how to post it on the website she will be everso pleased to let everyone see how bootiful I am. To give you a clue - I am black with a white blaze and chest and four white paws and a white tip on my tail, but at the moment I only have half my coat 'cos the vet shaved it all off on both sides and down all my legs where the nasty needles went and my Mum says, if I was a horse it would be called a blanket clip. No-one knows exactly what was wrong with me apart from an enlarged spleen, but that is quite enough isn't it?

I went for a run this morning. This is the first time my Mum has let me off the lead since my hoperation - I wanted to run and run but my Mum said - no no Wee Dash - that is enough, so she was quite right and I have spent all afternoon asleep quite zausted.

Fank yous all very much for worrying about me - my Mum says yous is all very kind.

Hi Dash's mum

Here is a quick way to upload photo's

When you select reply - you will see the message box come up.

To your right you will see smaller boxes..bold..italic...link etc

If your picture is on your computer and the pixel size is no bigger than 1600 x 1200 - you will have no problems uploading - if its a mega smart new camera that you have been using - you will probably have to use photobucket or something similar.

to check your picture size/pixel - right click on the mouse over the picture....select image and you will clearly see various details...you can just ignore this and try and upload by:

Selecting upload....it will bring up a box

Select browse and look for the picture..i.e is on on Desktop or a file seperate.

Find the picture and double click

You should now be able to see the file name in the box next to (Browse)

Now select "upload"

Now it should say upload successful

Now click on the image to insert into your message.

You can double check that this has been done by looking at preview - the box is just below the message box.

Hope this helps....:-D

Message to Eric - I still have your beautiful and stunning Greyhound statue,

Its in safe hand and I will ensure it passes your way on my next travels to Aberdeen...
It was waiting for your collection at New Deer, I was not there on Saturday - so am assuming you didn't make it, cos I was there on Sunday and didnna see yah! so the statue has come all the way back to Bonny Dundee.

Will keep it safe - honest!! Big hugs xxxx

Hi Lassie,

Will you please thank your Mum or Dad for all the instructions on how to upload a photo. I would never have been able to figure it out and I will give it a go. Thanks so much.

Wow! What a beautiful statue - I have to admit, I have not seen one as good as this before.
