Meet Mayo, the most handsome, happy hound and he has already earned the accolade of the easiest dog his foster parents have ever had!

Mayo settled at home immediately, hasn’t had any accidents inside and managed the stairs straight aware without training (a first!). Mayo loves a snack as much as the next hound; he has not jumped on counters or stolen any food but can reach quite high so it would be important his forever home keeps the snacks out of reach!

Mayo is the friendliest greyhound, with a permanently wagging tail, who loves the company of anyone whether human or groo. He has been left at home for several hours both alone and with another greyhound for company without incident.

Mayo is a fantastic dog to walk on the lead, he doesn’t pull and will walk to heel if asked to. He is unreactive to most things on walks and occasionally has a lovely little leap of joy when he encounters other dogs but doesn’t pull toward them. He’s very good in the car, he is currently being lifted in as this was what the kennel does with all their greyhounds but he could easily be trained to jump in the car.

Mayo has met different sizes of dogs on walks and so far, has been happy to interact with them in an appropriate way. He has potential to be rehomed in a home with smaller dogs but would require careful introduction and assessment. Equally, Mayo would also thrive in a single dog household.

Mayo loves learning and doing new things, his training has already started in his foster home, and he is a very enthusiastic pupil! His exposure and training will continue while he is in foster and like all retired greyhounds he would benefit from his socialisation and training to be continued in his
forever home.
Mayo would be a perfect hound for most if not all homes. As an experienced fosterer I cannot emphasise enough that hounds this easy are an absolute rarity and I would expect the first person to meet Mayo will
absolutely be snapping him up immediately.

Mayo has slotted straight into life as a home hound, he would suit first time or experienced owners. He is kind, hilarious, has a wicked greyhound lean on him when you scratch his neck and will absolutely give his new owners a lifetime of love and fun.
